Fishing Report by Lars

LAKE LEVEL: Eucumbene - 55% River

Bait Fishing: At the moment there seems to be more Browns around than Rainbows, so when you baitfish worms and grubs on a running sinker or mudeye under a float is they way to go.  Browns seem to have a tendency to be closer into the bank looking for yabbies and other creatures.  So please don't try to cast your bait too far out.  We do have a few Rainbows around and they seem to be slightly further out from the bank but they still love powerbait and all the other baits.   So it's best to try to target the Browns.
Trolling is probably the most rewarding at the moment.  So if you have a leadcore line and a downrigger you'll have a better chance to get a fish.  Try to reach a depth around 4 - 7 metres with your lures.
Fly Fishing: A few of my fly fishing customers have done really well both in the Eucumbene and Murrumbidgee Rivers and the biggest so far has been a 6lb Brown from the Murrumbidgee.   This was caught on a dry fly.
The creeks have mainly yielded smaller fish.
Spinning from the banks has been very successful this year probably because the Browns are cruising the banks looking for yabbies.  So a lot of nice Browns have been caught on a daily basis mainly in the mornings and afternoons.

See you at the water.
Cheers from
